Kallista Energy, a European renewable energy producer, is launching its first battery energy storage project of 120 MW and 240 MWh in Saleux, in the Somme region, and has signed an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract with Envision Energy, a world-leading green technology company, dedicated to being a net-zero technology partner.

The Saleux site will have a capacity of 120 MW and 240 MWh using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology. A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) supports the power grid by providing frequency regulation services on the RTE reserve markets. It also enhances renewable energy integration by providing system flexibility—storing surplus power during production peaks and discharging it during consumption peaks. For example, a typical cycle could involve fully charging the battery during a solar production peak in the afternoon and fully discharging it in the evening during residential demand peaks.
With this project, Kallista Energy—founded in 2005 and active in France, Germany, and the Netherlands—further diversifies into battery storage. The group is already active in wind and solar energy, as well as electric mobility.
This project marks Envision Energy’s first independent battery energy storage contract in France, following recent successes in Europe. As the key component of this BESS project, the LFP battery cells will be supplied by AESC – a leading battery technology company headquartered in Japan. AESC has a state-of-the-art 10 GWh Gigafactory, located in Douai in the Hauts-de-France region in production since June 2025.
The Saleux battery storage project has been developed and is funded by Kallista Energy. Construction will start in June 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026. Envision Energy will ensure the maintenance of the site and will also be responsible for battery recycling at the end of their lifecycle.
